Our client, a leading organization in their industry, is seeking a highly motivated Planning Lead to join their Project Management Office (PMO) on a contract basis. The focus of this role is around new initiatives within the PMO. The Planning Lead will drive the quality control of team outputs, identify opportunities where planning can add value, and ensure the right information is available for all new initiatives.

The successful candidate will maintain the portfolio schedule, perform high-quality discovery to ensure pipeline estimates and plans for new initiatives are realistic and effective, and ensure all BAU demand is captured and recorded consistently. Additionally, the Planning Lead will report on status, outcomes, trends, and analysis in a timely manner, engaging with other departments to share and discuss insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the right information is available for all new initiatives
  • Maintain and update the portfolio schedule
  • Perform high-quality discovery to ensure realistic and effective pipeline estimates and plans for new initiatives
  • Capture and record all BAU demand consistently
  • Report on status, outcomes, trends, and analysis in a timely manner
  • Engage with other departments to share and discuss insights
Experience, Capability, and Qualifications
Capability:
  • Excellent conceptual and analytical thinking skills, with the ability to proactively identify and work through solutions
  • Strong Excel and/or PowerBI skills
  • Strong business analysis capabilities
  • Excellent understanding of the project delivery lifecycle
  • Understanding of the different functions of an IT department and how workflows between them
  • Ability to establish and grow widespread relationships at all levels
  • Continuous improvement mindset
Experience and Qualifications:
  • Experience in any aspect of project delivery, project administration, and/or business analysis
  • Previous role in IT planning, demand management, workforce planning, and/or portfolio planning
  • Project management qualifications are desirable but not essential
