Position Summary: The Planning and Procurement Manager will oversee the end-to-end management of Supply Chain Planning, including Production Planning, Supply & Demand Planning, and the development of a high-performing Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) function. This role is also responsible for the development and execution of procurement strategies that create long-term value and optimise costs across the supply chain.
 
This role is crucial in aligning business functions to drive streamlined operations, optimize inventory levels, and deliver greater value to customers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, inventory management, and S&OP, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and implement best practices that enhance operational efficiency.
 
 
Key Responsibilities

S&OP Development:
  • Lead the creation and implementation of a robust S&OP process that aligns sales, production, and inventory planning.
  • Collaborate with key business functions to ensure that the S&OP process drives efficiency and meets customer demand.
  • Continuously improve the S&OP process to enhance forecasting accuracy and operational performance.
Procurement Management:
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies that ensure the timely delivery and quality of materials/products.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and service.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to achieve optimal procurement outcomes.
  • Monitor supplier performance and maintain strong relationships to ensure long-term partnerships.
  • Source new suppliers to enhance the procurement portfolio.
Inventory Management:
  • Oversee and manage inventory levels to ensure alignment with demand forecasts and S&OP plans.
  • Implement inventory management best practices to optimize stock levels, minimize waste, and reduce holding costs.
  • Analyze purchasing and inventory systems, continuously improving processes and identifying opportunities for automation.
  • Coordinate with logistics and warehousing teams to streamline inventory processes and ensure accurate stock control.
  • Adjust inventory purchasing rules in response to changes in demand, market conditions, or business strategy.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and implement corrective actions to maintain accuracy and reliability.
Cost Management:
  • Monitor and control procurement and inventory costs to meet budgetary requirements.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives and strategies to improve overall profitability.
  • Conduct regular cost analysis and benchmarking to ensure competitive pricing and optimal stock levels.
Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure all products meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to develop and maintain quality control processes.
  • Address and resolve any product quality issues promptly and effectively.
Safety Compliance:
  • Ensure all procurement and inventory activities comply with safety regulations and standards.
  • Evaluate and verify the safety practices of potential suppliers.
  • Ensure that all procured products and materials meet safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Team Leadership:
  • Lead and mentor a team of procurement and planning specialists.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing training and development opportunities.

To be successful: 
 
  • Proven experience driving efficiencies across S&OP, Procurement and Inventory Management within an FMCG manufacturing business
  • Will have driven CI projects within a scaling business (automation of tasks desirable)
  • Proficiency in using ERP software (Pronto a bonus)
  • Prior experience driving cost optimisation Procurement projects across diverse supply network, both domestic and internationally.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and drive change.
