An exciting immediate start role with a nationally-recognised organisation currently exists in order to fill a key role in their finance team. Taking a hands-on approach, this Tax Accountants' position will help assist in the management and communication of the companies’ financial & corporate accounting activities on both a domestic and international scale. Initially this will be a long-term contractual assignment, however there is the opportunity for this role to be made permanent / extended.
The responsibilities
Reporting into the Finance Manager, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to);
- Assist in the preparation of income tax returns for review by the Senior Tax Manager;
- Assist in the preparation of tax-effect accounting entries and disclosures in accordance with AIFRS;
- Assist in the preparation of the monthly and quarterly BAS and IAS;
- Assist in compliance with weekly and annual royalty withholding tax reporting and payment obligations;
- Assist in the preparation of FBT returns for review by the Senior Tax Manager and with other employment related taxation obligations;
- Liaise with the ATO and other revenue authorities and assisting in maintaining the income tax consolidated and GST groups and other tax/revenue related registrations;
- Prepare responses to ATO and State Revenue Office audits, reviews and requests for information;
- Collaborate with the wider Finance team with a view to consistently improve tax processes;
- Other tax related duties and projects as required.
Ideally, you will be a CA/CPA qualified accounting professional and will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills as your ability to interact and engage cross-functionally within the business will be crucial to your success. The successful applicant will have a tertiary qualification in Commerce, Finance, Accounting or other related field. You will also have had at least 2 years experience in a tax role within a Big 4 or chartered accounting firm/corporate environment.
The following are also desirable but not essential.
- Skills in Microsoft D365;
- Skills in a tax compliance software such as Tax Automate, CCH Global Integrator and OneSource FBT;
- Working knowledge of the Google Suite of tools.
