About the role  

This permanent, hybrid role (based in Melbourne or Sydney) offers the chance to shape our Client's legal strategy globally. Reporting to the General Counsel, the Senior Legal Counsel will work across multiple jurisdictions to support business goals, manage risks, and ensure compliance while contributing to high-profile global initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Legal Strategy: Develop and execute legal strategies in collaboration with senior management to support corporate objectives while managing risk.
  • Contract Management: Oversee contract review, negotiation, and renewal globally, working with Regional Sales Leads and the General Counsel. Manage workflow processes for efficient contract handling.
  • Data Protection: Assist in executing the global data protection strategy, ensuring compliance with privacy laws.
  • Intellectual Property (IP): Manage the trademark portfolio and collaborate with external advisors to protect IP rights.
  • Risk Management: Participate in the Enterprise Risk Committee, identifying and mitigating company-wide risks. Support the General Counsel in chairing duties.
  • Corporate Support: Provide legal guidance on mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and other corporate matters impacting various departments.
About you:
  • Minimum 8 years post-qualification experience (PQE) with a focus on corporate and commercial law.
  • Proven in-house legal experience is essential.
  • Strong expertise in contract negotiation, management, and global data protection.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law; Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent preferred.
  • Autonomous, with strong task prioritization in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across jurisdictions and functions.
