About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated Principal Risk Advisor to provide strategic advice, direction, and support in risk management, fraud and corruption control, disaster management, and business continuity. This role is crucial in developing and maintaining departmental policies and procedures, coordinating reviews, and ensuring compliance with Australian standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain the department’s Risk Management, Fraud and Corruption Control, Disaster Management, and Business Continuity policies and procedures.
  • Schedule and coordinate cyclical reviews, maintain registers and records, and promote engagement and understanding.
  • Provide high-level professional advice and support to the Audit and Risk Management Committee (ARMC) and senior officers.
  • Research emerging issues, develop issue and proposal papers, and present findings to senior management.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships within the department, across government agencies, and with external bodies.
  • Deliver presentations, conduct facilitation sessions, and contribute to reporting and advisory services to enhance departmental capabilities.
  • Perform other corporate governance duties as required.
Skills and Abilities:
  • In-depth knowledge of current risk management, fraud and corruption control, and business continuity practices.
  • Ability to write concise, logical, and grammatically correct analytical reports.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects and meeting established timeframes while adjusting priorities as needed.

About the Team: The Strategy and Governance team ensures the Department's corporate governance framework complies with accountability requirements and supports management in delivering strong community outcomes. The team provides governance services and specialist advice, including strategic and operational planning, risk management, business continuity, fraud and corruption control, performance measurement, complaints management, and more.
