Are you a mechanically minded engineer with a passion for maintenance, safety, and continuous improvement? We’re on the lookout for a Plant Engineer to lead maintenance operations within a plastic manufacturing facility.
About the Role:
As a Plant Engineer, you will be responsible for the effective and efficient maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and instrument systems. You’ll lead a team of maintenance employees and contractors while ensuring compliance, safety, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance & Reliability – Plan, execute, and track maintenance for all plant equipment and buildings.
- Safety & Compliance – Minimise OH&S risks, enforce safety procedures, and ensure compliance with external regulations.
- Budget & Inventory Management – Manage the annual maintenance budget and oversee spare parts inventory.
- Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving – Perform root cause analysis, minimise production downtime, and provide after-hours support when required.
- Continuous Improvement – Drive efficiency, GMP adherence, and foster a high-performance team culture.
- Training & Development – Ensure plant personnel are trained in mechanical, electrical, and instrument procedures.
What We’re Looking For:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong leadership skills with experience supervising teams.
- Hands-on approach with the ability to troubleshoot complex machinery.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Familiarity with plastic manufacturing processes (extrusion, lamination, slitting, thermoforming) is a plus.
