This company is a global food manufacturer with a rich history and household brand names. Due to continued focus on Risk Management, governance and achieving best business practice, they have a created a position to head the Procurement Risk Management function.


About the role:

The Head of Procurement Risk Management is responsible for leading the risk management function in partnership with the Risk Management Committee to develop risk strategy and partner with the Procurement team to develop and execute commodity risk strategy.  There will be a planned approach to risk mitigation and margin management taking into consideration several elements and factors such as procurement timelines, working capital and budgets, projected risks, and opportunities.
  
A key requirement of the role is to ensure high standards of governance in the management of risk, position reporting, controls, and the provision of quality information on forward pricing which is essential to protect profitability.
  

Key Responsibilities and Experience:

  • Develop risk management strategies for meat, packaging, ingredients, feed, utilities and FX
  • Work closely with the wider procurement team to analyse and make recommendations regarding strategic forward purchases and hedge positions based on currency and meat market trends to reduce volatility of product margin and achieve cost objectives.
  • Ensure procedural arrangements, systems and processes established allow appropriate levels of controls and ethical standards.
  • Governance systems include risk management policies, procurement policies, capital expenditure policy, and position reporting
  • Further to having the experience in the above, you will also demonstrate the ability to create and maintain relationships (and influence) cross functionally and with external parties.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Economics or business-related field and/or relevant work experience. A Masters degree would be advantageous.
