As the interim Group Accounting Manager, you will oversee a small team and ensure that the team are organised, efficient and produce timely and accurate financial and management reporting. You will also support the GM of Finance in ensuring the integrity of all systems and processes that impact the financial statements, statutory compliance and other reporting obligations, as well as drive and deliver the year-end stat accounts.
- Preparation of the timely production of periodic financial reports, internal financial & management and ELT/Board reports (including commentary from relevant stakeholders)
- Leading and supporting the Financial Accounting team in investigating and resolving identified issues, providing meaningful financial analysis, and implementing controls and processes
- Preparation of annual and half-year financial reports, including all GPFR disclosures, along with all consolidation files and work papers, which will be subject to external audit.
- Maintenance of general ledgers and accounting processes, ensuring the integrity of GL data integrated from core systems and processes/functions (e.g. billing, payroll etc), and supporting the alignment of core processes across group entities
- Playing a key role in GL control, supervising and performing the timely production and review of reconciliations
- In conjunction with the GM of Finance, solve technical accounting issues and prepare accounting advice papers for the CFO and Board on matters of judgement, complete business acquisition purchase price allocation accounting and tax allocable amounts, and undertake asset impairment modelling and analysis.
- Support the GM of Finance in managing the relationship with external auditors and advisers, being the principal contact for external audit
- Work effectively with other finance functions (e.g. FP&A; Credit; Accounts Payable) to identify items that may impact the integrity of the financial results
- Support GM of Finance in preparation of full-year investor reporting packs
- Other tasks as required or directed, consistent with skills, qualifications and experience, deemed necessary to meet the needs of the business.
- Fully qualified ACA/CPA (or equivalent) with previous Chartered firm or financial control, management reporting experience
- You will be able to demonstrate your experience of managing and developing a team
- Experience and confidence in working effectively with external advisers (tax, audit)
- The candidate should be confident, a self-starter, with the ability to operate in a dynamic environment
- You must be able to demonstrate good attention to detail, good judgement showing logical decision making, and a hands-on approach
- Computer literate with strong MS Excel and Great Plains skills, and strong understanding of accounting principles
