About the role

The Governance and Risk Coordinator is a key role in supporting the robust governance framework of the organisation. This position is pivotal in assisting the Australia Territory Board (the Board) to meet its governance obligations and provide reliable, timely, and high-quality support and service to the Board and its relevant Committees.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Support the Company Secretary in setting agendas, preparing, and presenting associated papers for Board and Committee activities.
  • Organize and facilitate Board and relevant Committee meetings, ensuring members are fully apprised of relevant information.
  • Attend Board and Committee meetings.
  • Ensure timely distribution of all documents related to meeting papers and reports.
  • Maintain personnel files for Board and Committee members, including key information.
  • Assist in processing and recording integrity checks for Board and Committee members.
  • Support the effectiveness of the Board and Committees by following applicable policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the review process for governance-related policies, including the Governance Policy and Whistleblower Protections Policy.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Degree in Law, Compliance Management, Accounting, Commerce, or Finance; a post-secondary degree or diploma in Risk Management.
  • Knowledge of risk management practices and standards such as ISO 31000:2009 and other Australian Standards relevant to Risk Management.
  • Knowledge of the ACNC Governance Standards.
  • Extensive experience as part of a Governance and Risk team within a large organization with a proven track record in policy development, risk, and compliance review and analysis, and implementation of governance frameworks.
  • Experience and exposure to Advisory Boards and senior management with demonstrated experience in leadership, influencing, and relationship management with key stakeholders at senior levels of organizations, government agencies, and partners.
  • Solid working knowledge of ASIC and ACNC regulations, Australian Charity and Company Law in terms of governance and Risk, and the regulatory environment, including familiarity with obligations imposed by the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth).
