The business is currently sitting at $200 million in revenue and has a real appetite to continue its expansion into global markets with the support of an ambitious PE Group that is investing heavily in best-in-class technology and automation to ensure a resilient, high-performing, and sustainable supply chain for the future. The business now seeks a highly driven Operations Director to ensure seamless integration of global logistics, warehousing, and distribution functions to drive operational efficiency and excellence.
 
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Global Operations Director is responsible for optimizing global logistics operations and building a high-performing operation model that supports the businesses current and future growth. This role encompasses managing the distribution center (warehouse) in Australia and ensuring seamless integration of global logistics, warehousing, and distribution functions to drive operational efficiency and excellence.
 
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership:
  • Develop and implement a global operations strategy aligned with the company’s growth objectives.
  • Identify and drive key initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and scalability.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence across all logistics and distribution functions.
Logistics and Supply Chain Optimization:
  • Oversee global logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and inventory management.
  • Develop and implement best practices for logistics processes, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline supply chain processes and improve overall efficiency.
Warehouse Management (20% of the role - a Manager is in place to run this site).
  • Manage the distribution center in Australia, ensuring optimal performance in terms of storage, handling, and distribution.
  • Enhance inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, and operational productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards within the warehouse environment.
Operational Efficiency:
  • Analyze and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and drive operational efficiencies.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles and other operational improvement methodologies to reduce waste and increase productivity.
  • Lead initiatives to improve order accuracy, reduce lead times, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Team Leadership and Development:
  • Build and lead a high-performing operations team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven culture.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities to team members.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration across all levels of the operations team.
Technology and Innovation:
  • Identify and leverage new technologies and automation opportunities to enhance operational capabilities.
  • Drive digital transformation initiatives within the operations function to improve data visibility and decision-making.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and innovations, integrating best practices into operations.
Financial Management:
  • Develop and manage the operations budget, ensuring alignment with overall company financial goals.
  • Monitor and control operational expenses, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or efficiency.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on operational performance and financial metrics to senior leadership.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in global logistics, or operations, with a proven track record of leadership in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of logistics, warehousing, and distribution processes, with experience managing large-scale distribution centers.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives that drive operational efficiency and growth.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a focus on developing high-performing teams.
  • Proficient in logistics/warehouse-related technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and regions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing business needs.
Travel: Role based in Perth with domestic and international travel, once or twice a year.
