An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Financial Controller to join a rapidly growing start-up based in Richmond. This is a newly created role due to the company's growth, providing an opportunity to make a significant impact on its financial operations. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will lead a team of four while ensuring the company’s financial operations are efficient, compliant, and optimized for business performance.
The role
Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to;
- Provide financial analysis and insights to senior management, offering detailed reporting on financial performance and key metrics. Support ad-hoc projects and special financial reporting tasks as needed
- Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, in line with accounting standards. Ensure compliance with local and international regulatory requirements, including tax filings, audits, and other mandatory submissions
- Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting
- Oversee cash flow forecasting, working capital management, and liquidity to ensure operational needs are met. Collaborate with the CFO to optimize capital allocation and manage banking relationships.
- Oversee tax reporting, ensuring compliance with tax laws in Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. Work closely with external advisors for tax planning and filing across jurisdictions
- Identify and mitigate financial risks, implementing strategies to safeguard the company’s assets
- Qualifications in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (CA/CPA or equivalent)
- Audit experience is required
- Strong Communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate financial performance to non-financial stakeholders
