Based in Melbourne, our client is a large private equity-backed FMCG organisation that is currently enjoying a period of substantial growth and expansion. After significant success both domestically and internationally, they are now looking for a high-calibre Assistant Financial Controller to join the team on an interim basis. This role presents as an excellent stepping stone for any aspiring future Financial Controller. 

Reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller, you will help lead the accounting function to success, ensuring effective controls and accurate reporting to support commercial decision-making.

More specifically, your key responsibilities will include:
  • Prepare full-year statutory accounting reports and manage the annual audit process.
  • Manage and lead multiple direct reports 
  • Oversee the preparation of management accounts, forecasts, and monthly reporting, including functional overheads and cost centre analysis.
  • Lead the general ledger maintenance and GST tax returns completion.
  • Assist in budget preparation, forecasting accuracy, and reconciliation of general ledger entries.
  • Analyze logistics costs, inventory variances, and provisions on a monthly basis.
  • Provide reporting and forecasting for shareholder and bank reporting requirements, including covenant calculations.
  • Support payroll analysis and ensure assets are capitalized appropriately.
  • Manage weekly group cash flow and perform forecasting to drive financial decision-making.
  • Continually improve reporting processes, ensuring timely delivery of key financial information.
CA/CPA qualified, you will be an experienced Finance Manager/Financial Controller within a medium/large-scale business. You will have an in-depth technical understanding combined with demonstrated commercial awareness. You will possess exceptional communication skills as your ability to interact, engage and influence stakeholders across the business will be crucial to your success. Given this is commencing as a contract, an immediately available candidate or a shorter notice period would be advantageous.
