Sharp and Carter is partnering with a leading company in the creative and production industry who are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant Contractor with expertise in Xero. The company values accuracy, timeliness, and independence in a fast-paced work environment.
The Role
Reporting into the Finance Manager and Senior Financial Accountant, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Maintain and report on the company's cash flow.
- Create and send invoices to clients in Xero, schedule payments, and ensure timely processing.
- Generate invoices, track payments, and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded in Xero.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Manage AUS payroll calculations.
- Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Manage accrual accounting and revenue recognition.
- Utilise Xero for managing financial tasks.
- Proven experience as a Assistant Accountant, Accounting Contractor, or similar role.
- Proficiency in Xero accounting software is essential.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Awareness of cash flow within the business before processing transactions.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA) or currently studying towards CA/CPA is a plus.
