This company is a global manufacturer within the textiles manufacturing space. With state of the art facilities and significant investment they have a newly created position to enhance Product Development and Engineering capability.
About the role:
As the Technical Engineering Manager, you will oversee the engineering and product development functions, manage project timelines, CAPEX and OPEX budgets, and ensure the delivery of high-quality products in the textiles space. Your role will bridge the gap between technical execution and strategic planning, requiring hands-on technical expertise as well as strong leadership and communication skills. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will have 5+ direct reports yourself.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
- Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to production, ensuring alignment with business objectives and sustainability goals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to define project scope and deliverables.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Identify and mitigate risks, resolving technical challenges as they arise.
- Advocate for best practices in product development, manufacturing processes, and sustainability standards.
- Drive continuous improvement within the engineering team, focusing on efficiency, scalability, and product innovation.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to inform strategic decisions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Significant experience in a technical leadership or engineering management role, preferably within the plastics/building products manufacturing industry.
- Proven track record of managing and delivering complex product development projects.
- Strong technical background in materials engineering and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a results-oriented mindset.
- Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience working in agile environments and with cross-functional teams.
- Commitment to sustainability and familiarity with environmental standards in manufacturing.
