As the Financial Accountant you will take ownership of the following:
- Prepare accurate financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Oversee and ensure the accurate recording of financial transactions in the general ledger.
- Manage account reconciliations and finalise financial records at the end of each period.
- Lead the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, ensuring alignment with company goals.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including GST, PAYG, and corporate tax reporting.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors to provide necessary documentation and explanations.
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards and financial regulations.
- Analyse financial performance, comparing actual results to budgets and forecasts.
- Reconcile bank accounts, intercompany accounts, and other balance sheet items.
- Drive improvements in financial reporting and accounting processes to enhance efficiency.
- Lead and mentor a small team of accounting professionals, fostering development and ensuring high performance.
- Delegate tasks and provide guidance to ensure smooth team operations and meet financial deadlines.
To excel in this role, you’ll bring the following qualifications and attributes:
- CPA or CA qualified with a strong understanding of accounting standards.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise with auditors, tax authorities, and senior management.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in financial accounting, preferably within a medium to large organisation or a chartered firm.
- Strong technical skills in financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end processes, with high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills for financial analysis.
- Previous management responsibilities is a nice to have.
