The Role
As a Project Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the finance team to manage the financial aspects of major projects. Reporting to the Senior Project Accountant, you will gain hands-on experience with month-end reporting, financial analysis, and project-related accounting processes. This position provides an excellent opportunity for a driven individual to develop their skills in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
Reporting into the Group Financial Controller, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Complete monthly financial close processes, including balance sheet reconciliations.
- Oversee project accounting tasks, including revenue recognition, WIP postings, and deferred revenue reconciliations.
- Prepare divisional P&L statements, KPI reports, and gross margin analyses, linking financial performance to operational drivers.
- Support external audits and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with project managers to manage budgets, track progress, and reconcile project financials.
- Maintain and manage the fixed asset register, including capitalised wages and value-adding reports.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and systems.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounting, with a focus on project accounting or financial reporting.
- Tertiary qualifications in accounting; CA/CPA preferred (or currently working towards).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage large data sets using advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with financial systems such as D365 (preferred but not essential).
- Industry experience in telecommunications, utilities, infrastructure, property or construction is highly regarded.
- A proactive attitude with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Driven, eager to learn, and capable of delivering results with minimal supervision.
