Sharp and Carter are assisting a QLD Government Department source a PMO Coordinator for an initial contract through till 300/09/2025 to play a key role in a critical business transformation. This business transformation project is being undertaken by an internal project team, partnered with embedded resources from a top tier consulting firm. The PMO Coordinator will play an important role in supporting the project team.
 
The PMO Coordinator will:
  • support the development and implementation of the chosen project management methodology, standards, and tools to ensure consistent project execution across the Program.
  • With the Project Manager’s, coordinate the scheduling, resources, and budgeting of projects within the PMO to optimise project delivery timelines and outcomes.
  • Monitor project progress against milestones, deliverables, risk and issues.
  • Drive the project documentation management, including project plans, status reports, and risk management plans, to ensure all project information is accurately captured and accessible.
  • Support the PMO lead with project performance data to identify trends, efficiencies, and areas for improvement in project execution and management practices.
  • Support project managers and teams by providing guidance on PMO processes, tools, and best practices to enhance project outcomes.
  • Oversee the PMO’s knowledge management efforts, including the development and maintenance of a project repository to capture and share lessons learned and best practices across projects.
Role Requirements:
  • Demonstrate ability to gather requirements from a variety of stakeholders and translate these into fit for purpose solutions.
  • Proactively contribute and provide advice and recommendations on the design, development, implementation and ongoing review of portfolio performance processes and improvements. Executive approval: xx/xx/2023
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key clients, contacts and organisations within the department, regions and other government agencies.
  • Contribute to activities associated with the implementation of new reporting requirements for portfolio performance, governance, project lifecycle and safety across the Division.
  • Actively participate as a project team member and coordinate project teamwork, including maintaining and reporting of project milestones.
  • Manage the preparation and presentation of accurate and comprehensive briefings and reports to support senior and executive management within the department.
About You:
  • Stakeholder Management: A hands-on person who can work across the board from front line staff to executives and possesses excellent communication skills. Able to progress work through influence.
  • Reporting and Documentation: attention to detail, ensuring timely and successful project outcomes. Maintaining comprehensive documentation and crafting detailed, accurate reports are responsibilities that underpin the tracking of project progress, identification of risks, and engagement of stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. 
  • Risk Management: identifying potential project pitfalls and evaluating their likelihood and impact on project timelines and deliverables, ensuring project objectives are achieved with minimal disruptions.
  • Team Player: Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Problem Solving: A good problem solver who can get to the bottom of problems and design practical solutions. Proven ability to drive practical change and results.
  • Presentation skills: the ability to write and speak clearly to easily communicate complex ideas in a way that is easy to understand.
