The Organisation
  
Our client is an S&P/ASX 300 listed business providing integrated end-to-end asset life-cycle services to utility and telecommunications asset owners. They are on the lookout for a Payroll Governance/ Compliance Officer to facilitate the running, delivery and controlling of the payment of wages and salaries, and to ensure the accurate and timely maintenance of related payroll records whilst adhering to the relevant statutory legislation and company Policies and Procedures.
  
Responsibilities  
Reporting directly to the Payroll Accounting & Compliance Analysis Lead you will be responsible for:
  • Ensuring all payments are made in accordance with Awards, Agreements, Company Policy and Procedures, FairWork, Payroll Tax, Superannuation, and other relevant legislative requirements
  • Identifying and consolidating payroll compliance risks and issues
  • Identifying process improvement strategies
  • Maintain award data and ensure wages payments comply with EBA or awards
  • Plan and implement all payroll changes in relation to new and amended industrial instruments.
  • Respond to escalated payroll compliance queries in an efficient and timely manner
  • Assist in preparing journal entries and reconcile payroll related GL accounts as set by Payroll Accountant
  • Check pay run variance report for discrepancies
  • Review and update payroll processes on a regular basis to maintain continuous improvement
  
Candidate Profile
The successful applicant will have proven experience in a similar position along with the following skills and attributes:
  • Chris21 definitely advantageous, though not essential
  • Previous experience in full function payroll processing
  • Previous payroll compliance and governance experience
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Proven process improvement initiatives
  • High attention to detail including prioritising and organising workload
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work well under pressure
  • Confident when dealing with stakeholders both internal and external
  • Able to take initiative and accountability for assigned task
