About the Role
This is an opportunity to take a well-established, long standing traditional business and revitalise and re-energise it into a high-performance merit based technical sales machine and be commensurately rewarded for doing so.

Coming from a solid base of sales, margin and market opportunities, the potential to grow the Madison Express business is significant given the size of the market in which it operates.

The General Manager will have full P&L and strategic responsibility for Madison Express, with a strong focus on sales and operational performance. While core functions such as treasury,  IT, property and HR are managed centrally within Madison Group Enterprises, this role will be responsible for driving and increasing revenue growth and operational efficiencies across the business.

Key areas of focus include:
  • Exploring new direct-to-customer opportunities, and expanding market reach beyond traditional distribution channels.
  • Broadening the business’ portfolio of products and solutions, growing its share of existing customer’s business and identifying new customers and markets for the product portfolio.
  • Providing strong sales and operational leadership, ensuring sustainable growth and continued market leadership.
  • Fostering an open, inclusive, and collaborative culture, empowering the team and encouraging innovation.
  • Balancing respect for an established business with the ability to drive evolution and modernisation.
  • Leveraging the newly implemented ERP system to identify and deliver improved efficiency, data insights, and business processes.
  • Contributing towards the broader group’s digital transformation and eCommerce strategy.
About You
You are a strategic, commercially driven senior sales-oriented leader with a strong background in sales and operational management within the electrical wholesale, industrial and engineering distribution, and/or technology solutions sectors. You have the ability to execute business transformation, and have a professional, engaging, collaborative leadership style.

Key skills and experience:
  • A track record of driving revenue growth and market expansion, particularly in sales-led environments.
  • An inclusive leadership style, valuing collaboration and empowering teams rather than needing to be the “smartest person in the room.”
  • The ability to balance respect for and use the advantage of an established business with the need for innovation and evolution.
  • An ability to develop, lead and mentor high performance, merit-based sales teams.
  • Proven ability to analyse complex data sets, synthesise key findings, and translate them into actionable financial decisions that drive revenue growth and optimise profitability.
  • An ability to negotiate at the highest levels with channel partners and direct customers.
