Role Overview:
The Fund Accountant will play a key role in managing and reporting on the financial activities of various real estate investment funds. This role requires a highly organized professional who is attentive to detail, proactive, and possesses excellent interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be a critical link between the finance, operations, and property management teams, ensuring that fund accounting and financial reporting are executed with the highest standards of accuracy and transparency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fund Accounting & Financial Reporting: Manage fund accounting activities for assigned real estate investment funds, including preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Collaborative Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact between internal departments and external partners, promoting an environment of cooperation and teamwork.
- Data Management & Reconciliation: Ensure accurate maintenance of financial records and ledgers, and perform monthly reconciliations for various accounts, including bank accounts, investments, and property management.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts for fund performance, taking a thoughtful approach to understand trends and variances.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, tax reporting, and filings for real estate investment funds.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline fund accounting processes, using insights and a proactive approach to contribute to process efficiency.
- Stakeholder Communication: Prepare and deliver clear, concise financial reports to senior management, investors, and other stakeholders, using empathy and understanding to communicate complex financial information effectively.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in fund accounting, ideally within the real estate or investment management industry.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with a collaborative approach and ability to build relationships across various teams.
- Knowledge of real estate accounting practices and financial regulations is an asset (not essential)
- Ability to work independently and take initiative while maintaining a collaborative mindset.
