They are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join the dynamic team. As a pivotal member of their engineering department, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing innovative solutions for our next-generation vehicle. From conceptualisation to implementation, your expertise will contribute to enhancing vehicle performance, reliability, and efficiency.
  
Key responsibilities include
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualise and design mechanical components and systems for trucks.
  • Utilise CAD software, ideally SolidWorks, to create detailed 2D and 3D models, ensuring designs meet functional requirements and manufacturing feasibility.
  • Conduct thorough analysis (FEA, tolerance analysis, etc.) to validate designs and optimise performance.
  • Generate engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation necessary for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Participate in prototype development, testing, and validation to ensure designs meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and cost-reduction efforts related to mechanical designs.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to drive innovation and maintain competitiveness.
  
The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in the following:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design within the heavy vehicle or equipment industry, preferably with exposure to hydraulics.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks and FEA tools; familiarity with PDM software is preferable.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes (casting, machining, sheet metal, etc.)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail and a methodical approach to design.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and present technical information clearly.
