The Position
As a Contract Financial Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the Financial Controller in various accounting functions. The contract will be 3 months initially. There is a potential opportunity for this position to transition into permanent.
Key Responsibilities
- Establishing and maintaining all accounting and related records.
- Providing support to the Financial Controller in producing monthly management accounts.
- Managing all areas of finance including financial accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, planning, analysis, and tax.
- Reviewing and improving financial reporting systems to ensure a high level of internal control.
- Meeting financial reporting requirements including monthly management reports and other requested reports.
- Assisting with preparation of monthly management accounts and profit and loss review.
- Ensuring completion of monthly General Ledger reconciliations.
- Handling vehicle administration and records maintenance.
- Preparing KPIs for monthly Board pack.
- Monthly cash flow reporting for the Board pack.
- Preparing and submitting BAS for each business and assisting with FBT preparation.
- Maintaining company fixed asset registers.
- Supporting the Financial Controller in annual budgeting, statutory accounts, and external audit requirements.
- Other tasks delegated by the Financial Controller.
Skills and Experience
- Degree in Accounting.
- CPA qualification.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to lead and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in maintaining and updating Policies and Procedures.
- Bank payment authorization in the absence of the Financial Controller.
- Internal Communication: Financial Controller, Group General Manager, Managing Director, Finance Team, Branches and Sales.
- External: Insurers, ATO, Relevant Government Bodies.
