About our client

Our client is a cutting-edge technology company and electricity retailer, revolutionizing the way power is bought in a renewable energy-driven world. They provide customers with direct access to real-time wholesale electricity prices and offer technology to shift energy usage to times when cheaper renewables are available. This not only saves money but also accelerates Australia's journey to 100% renewable energy.

They are backed by leading VCs such as Square Peg Capital and Main Sequence Ventures, impact-focused investors, Commonwealth Bank, and NRMA.
As they scale their business, they aim to disrupt a massive market for the better.

About the role
You will be a crucial member of the Operations team, ensuring best-practice compliance as they continue to grow. Your expertise in regulatory frameworks will ensure that their customer-facing and internal processes are both compliant and tailored to their innovative approach as a leading technology company.

You will enjoy delving into detailed processes to identify and implement improvements, working closely with their Accounts & Compliance Manager and Legal Counsel as needed.
  • Compliance Function Ownership: Oversee the client’s Operations compliance, ensuring customer support and internal processes adhere to energy regulations in collaboration with the Operations team.
  • System and Policy Review: Conduct periodic reviews to identify improvements and ensure ongoing compliance, applying scalable solutions to enhance customer experience and reduce costs.
  • BAU Compliance: Prepare regulatory reports, respond to ad hoc regulatory queries, manage complaint and Ombudsman cases, and guide Operations teams on managing vulnerable customers (e.g., financial hardship or domestic violence).
  • Compliance Culture Champion: Foster a compliance-centric culture within the organization.
  • General Support: Contribute to general customer service and BAU tasks as needed.
About you
  • Experience: 2-4+ years in a compliance or operations role within the energy, finance, or telecommunications sector.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks.  Experience within electricity retailers in the National Electricity Market is helpful, but this knowledge can be acquired on the job.
  • Analytical Skills: Keen attention to detail and a willingness to dive into operational processes to identify and improve issues.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple impactful projects simultaneously.
  • Teamwork and Independence: Capability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
