About the role
Working directly with the CEO and Executive Team, the COO will be a strong influencer within the organisation, driving operational excellence, process improvements, and strategic initiatives. The role will oversee corporate services, including finance, IT, and facilities, with a significant emphasis on enhancing overall organisational performance and optimising resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead business planning processes, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s strategy, mission and goals
- Oversee ICT strategy and platform architecture, leading IT transformation initiatives to improve operational effectiveness
- Champion a culture of quality and compliance, including risk management and adherence to service delivery standards.
- Drive financial optimisation and risk management practices including leading the annual audit process
- Support the efficient operation, maintenance and compliance of all organisational facilities
- Cultivate a high-performing team culture, driving continuous improvement initiatives
Skills and Experience
Entrepreneurial in style, your passion and drive are demonstrated in your commitment to drive change and make a substantial impact. You have highly developed technical skills and commercial acumen, along with proven experience managing complex and high-level stakeholder relationships. You are a big picture thinker who can reason at a conceptual level and drive change, while still maintaining strong attention to detail and a hands-on approach, bringing everyone along the process.
You have relevant tertiary qualifications in management, accounting or ICT. Post graduate qualifications or MBA studies will be highly regarded. You have compiled an impressive track record and reputation as a high achieving leader and have demonstrated experience in implementing an IT strategy, optimising processes, and leading organisational transformation activities. Experience working in the not-for-profit sector would be an advantage but not essential.
Crucially, you are a natural leader with a high degree of integrity and professionalism, with experience in leading and developing teams with a focus on performance management. You have the confidence and credibility to engage effectively and build relationships at Board level, and with senior executives and operational stakeholders. A creative thinker who can navigate a dynamic environment and lead people through change.
