Job Opportunity: Assistant Accountant – Temporary 8-Week Contract 

We are urgently seeking an immediately available Assistant Accountant for a temporary 8-week contract with a well-established company in Perth SOR. This is a critical role for the next two months, and we need someone who can hit the ground running and contribute from day one.

Key Responsibilities:

• Handle the month-end accounting process, including journal entries, adjustments for prepayments and accruals, and completing account reconciliations
• Perform bank reconciliations to ensure all transactions align with the company’s records
• Manage the fixed assets register, including maintaining accurate depreciation schedules
• Prepare and submit the monthly Business Activity Statement (BAS) on time
• Process payroll using Xero, ensuring the timely and accurate disbursement of salaries
• Contribute to the preparation of monthly financial reports, such as Profit & Loss, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow Statements
• Offer general administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the business

Key Requirements:

• Immediate availability to start the contract
• Tertiary qualifications in accounting or a related field preferred but not essential
• At least three years of experience in an accounting role, ideally within a commercial environment
• Hands-on experience with accounting systems and software
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (minimum intermediate level)
• A professional and polished presentation with a strong work ethic and reliability
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with staff, suppliers, and clients at all levels
• Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively, with the capacity to prioritise tasks and handle multiple responsibilities
