About the role:
Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, this is a broad and hands-on Senior Management Accountant role overseeing financial reporting, project accounting, budgeting, and compliance. You will take ownership of the finance function while working closely with key stakeholders across the business, ensuring accurate cost allocation and job profitability analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Preparation of monthly financial reports, including Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet
- Oversight of budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
- Project reporting and accounting, ensuring accurate cost allocation to jobs
- Work in progress (WIP) reporting and job profitability analysis
- Management of tax and compliance requirements (BAS, FBT, Payroll Tax)
- Cash flow monitoring and financial risk management
- Process improvement initiatives to enhance financial efficiency
- Business partnering with senior leadership to provide financial insights
- Liaising with external stakeholders, including auditors and regulatory bodies
- Supporting the Head of Finance with strategic financial initiatives and decision-making
- CA/CPA qualified with strong commercial acumen
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Management Accountant or similar role, ideally in construction or project-based industries
- Strong understanding of project accounting, WIP reporting, and job costing
- Hands-on approach with a proactive and problem-solving mindset
- Experience in financial systems and Excel proficiency
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills to support business-wide decision-making
