Sharp and Carter is proud to partner with this market-leading Manufacturing business. Our client are major providers of chemical solutions to a vast range of businesses across automotive, industrial and aviation around the globe.

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Product Manager to own the end to end Product strategy for our client. You will work across a range of duties including NPD, Product Lifecycle and Managing Product Strategies.

Leading and owning the development, implementation, and delivery of the global strategy for each item in the category at all stages of the Product Life Cycle - introduction, growth, maturity, and decline. This includes:
  • Being present in the market, assessing current competitor offerings and identifying opportunities
  • Leading the Product Development Team and setting design requirements, linking Commercial, Technical and Sourcing
  • Having a deep knowledge about product and product application
  • Defining market strategy and developing the core positioning and messaging, ensuring a suitable ROI for the business.

Key responsibilities:

Product Lifecycle Management

  • Define product roadmaps and prioritize product enhancements, updates, and discontinuations.
  • Manage product portfolios, including product line rationalization and portfolio optimization.
  • Conduct regular product portfolio reviews to ensure alignment with business objectives and market demands.
  • Champion new product development from inception to delivery ensuring objectives are met for all key stakeholders.
  • Idea Generation – work with Sales Team, customers, and other industry stakeholders
  • Screening – Filter out non-viable ideas, review external industry factors e.g., competition, legislation, technology etc.
  • Concept development – market research, customer feedback, focus groups etc.
  • Product development – lead, influence and support R&D and Sourcing teams in achieving the requirements of the project.
  • Commercialisation & Rollout – provide marketing material, education, and pricing information to Sales Team.
  • Lead and coordinate communication, clarification, and implementation of project requirements with all stakeholders including sales, quality assurance, design, supply chain, and customer service.

Commercial Support


Lead the delivery of plans that support sales and trading margin growth.
  • Partnering with General Managers and their Sales Teams to deliver on strategic and tactical plans with customers and newly identified customer opportunities.
  • Design and supply product training to Sales Team
  • Lead and implement the pricing strategy + associated activities.
  • Perform Product Demonstrations to customers.
  • Identify new penetration opportunities and defining market segmentation.
  • Identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to enhance product performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements to ensure product compliance and competitiveness.

Business Performance

  • Drive product category revenue & profitability KPIs.
  • Monitor and analyse product performance, including sales, market share, and customer feedback.
  • Drive cost reduction and margin enhancement opportunities with key business leaders
  • Maximise and protect trading profitability on existing and new business through pro-active management of:
  • Procurement and vendor relationships – work with Supply Chain & Operations to manage vendor suitability and reliability.
  • Consumer insights – benchmarking market pricing, product specifications, product quality, and trends.
  • Maximising product quality versus cost.


Skills and Experience:

  • Technical proficiency and knowledge of chemical industry is preferential 
  • Minimum of 5 years proven experience in product management within the aviation or chemical industries or other related field.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and launching products in a competitive market.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and across cultures.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to analyse market trends and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret market research data and make data-driven decisions.
