About the Company

The Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) is a commercial Statutory Authority responsible to the Minister for Regional Development and Manufacturing and Minister for Water. GAWB’s purpose is to supply water in bulk to major consumers in the Gladstone Region. Those consumers comprise major industries, power generating organisations, and the Gladstone Regional Council. GAWB manages a variety of assets ranging from major water storage through to pump stations, pipelines, storage tanks and water treatment plants and takes measures to protect the quantity and quality of present and future water supplies and provides, operates, and maintains recreational facilities and fish fingerling production facilities and stocking programs.

About the Role

GAWB is seeking two (2) Hydrogen Land and Approvals Advisors to support the next stages of the Hydrogen program. These new positions will collaborate closely with existing team members to enable all land, statutory approvals and access issues relating to the hydrogen projects to be progressed and resolved for both temporary (construction-related) and permanent infrastructure needs.
  
Key accountabilities include:
  
  • Resolving the tenure and approval requirements for Stage 1 infrastructure projects which includes 10km of two (2) new pipelines, two (2) reservoirs and a pump station ($200M+).
  • Supporting the Hydrogen Project Manager to identify and investigate suitable corridors for major new pipeline infrastructure for the long-term infrastructure planning.
  • Progress tenure and approval requirements for subsequent stages of infrastructure as approvals are secured.
  • Day to day coordination and management of internal and external relationships by working closely with the extended GAWB land and approvals team.
  
About You
  
You will have substantial knowledge of land tenure including reserves, freehold, leasehold, and secondary interests (e.g. leases and easements) including the application of relevant legislation. A practical understanding in land planning, natural resource management, law, GIS, or surveying (or related discipline) is considered essential, combined with the ability to undertake investigations, research, and review matters in a statutory authority context. You will be pragmatic, flexible, and able to operate in a changing environment and possess excellent stakeholder management skills. A relevant degree in Land Planning, Natural Resource Management, Law, GIS, or related discipline is mandatory.
