The Opportunity
The company is seeking a Credit Manager to lead the credit control function within the division. This is a leadership role overseeing a team of four credit professionals. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a critical role in managing credit risk, ensuring timely collections, and maintaining strong customer relationships. This role requires a hands-on approach and a strategic mindset to balance risk with business growth opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, train, and motivate the credit control team (four direct reports);
- Assess the creditworthiness of customers, conducting thorough financial evaluations;
- Determine and manage customer credit limits to balance risk and sales opportunities;
- Oversee collections processes, including follow-ups on overdue accounts and negotiation of payment plans;
- Manage direct debit arrangements and monthly charge processes;
- Liaise with credit insurers and brokers to manage risk and reporting requirements;
- Monitor and analyse key credit metrics to improve processes and reduce overdue balances;
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices;
- Negotiate payment terms and credit agreements with customers.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience leading a credit control team in a fast-paced environment;
- Strong understanding of credit risk assessment and collections management;
- Experience with high-volume, low-margin B2B transactions is highly desirable;
- Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills;
- Proficiency in financial analysis and credit reporting;
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
