The Category Development Manager will be responsible for driving category growth and providing strategic insights across Australian retailers. This role involves managing and analyzing data, developing range strategies, and collaborating with various teams to influence decision-making and drive business performance. The successful candidate will be an analytical thinker with experience in data interpretation and category management processes, particularly in retail environments.
Role responsibilities:
- 1. Data Management & Analysis - Manage and analyze Circana scan data from Australian retailers to assess category performance, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations to improve sales and profitability.
- 2. Monthly Reporting & Insights - Build and deliver monthly data reports, highlighting key performance drivers, market trends, and competitor activity. Provide actionable insights to internal stakeholders and the wider team to inform strategic decisions.
- 3. Range & Planogram Management - Lead the development of the optimal product range for the total category, ensuring alignment with market needs and business goals. Manage planogram processes in collaboration with WWths, utilizing best practices for product placement and assortment optimization (without the use of dedicated planogram tools).
- 4. Presentations & Stakeholder Communication - Present monthly performance reports and category insights to relevant team members, ensuring clear communication of key findings and strategic recommendations.
- 5. Range Review Inputo Contribute- to the creation and development of range review plans and supporting documentation. Provide insights for retailer-level presentations to align with overall category strategy and opportunities.
- 6. Collaboration with Marketing - Assist the marketing team in identifying and evaluating new product opportunities. Support the development of product ideas by confirming market gaps, competitive positioning, and target consumer segments.
- 7. Market Trend Insights - Stay abreast of market trends, consumer behavior, and industry innovations. Provide the business with insights on new products, retailer initiatives, and emerging consumer trends that could impact the category.
- 8. International Support - Collaborate with the UK and NZ teams to provide Australian data and insights that support the Décor business in new markets, helping the global expansion efforts with relevant category intelligence.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in category management, data analysis, or retail analytics, particularly with Circana scan data.
- Strong understanding of range management, planogram development, and retail processes.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of market trends and consumer behavior within the Australian retail landscape.
- Experience supporting international teams or cross-market collaboration is desirable.
