Sharp and Carter is partnering with an investment firm who are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant. This role is best suited to someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced and social work environment. The role is initially a 12 month fixed term contract with possibility of extension. The office is conveniently located in Sydney CBD and offers very flexible working arrangements.
The Role
Reporting into the Head of Finance, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Maintain and report on the company's cash flow.
- Managing banking tasks and cash reconciliations
- Create and send invoices to clients in Xero, schedule payments, and ensure timely processing.
- Generate invoices, track payments, and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded in Xero.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Manage AUS payroll calculations.
- Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Manage accrual accounting and revenue recognition.
- Utilise Xero for managing financial tasks.
- Proven experience as a Assistant Accountant
- Proficiency in Xero accounting software is highly recommended
- Strong understanding of accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Awareness of cash flow within the business before processing transactions.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
