Our Branch
Organisational Services division supports, equips and helps guide Council to deliver the Brisbane Vision through centralised corporate services and a customer-focused approach. Within Organisational Services, Corporate Finance branch partners with stakeholders to ensure financial sustainability of Council by managing budget development, managing financing activities, providing corporate financial reporting, providing corporate advice and financial analysis, undertaking financial risk management and developing, updating and managing financial policies and procedures.
The Role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, Organisational Services, this position will be responsible for establishing a proactive, contemporary Strategy, Policy and Reporting function for Council. As a senior leader, utilising industry best-practice within a values-driven environment, the role has accountability for leading the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Council’s enterprise finance strategy, policies, processes and performance.
As the Manager Strategy, Policy and Reporting, you will lead a team of professionals and work within a passionate, finance function in Corporate Finance branch which is undergoing a significant business and technology transformation. This role will be accountable for helping build and mature a contemporary finance function for the Finance Value Stream to enable efficient and effective service delivery across Council in a responsible and sustainable way.
The role will be responsible for:
- providing operational leadership across the strategy, policy and reporting function within the Corporate Finance branch, incorporating strategy, analytics, reporting, policy, procedure, process, business partnering, information management and systems
- collaboratively leading the development, delivery, monitoring and continuous improvement of contemporary, fit-for-purpose, best-practice policies, processes and governance to enable successful and sustainable financial outcomes across Council
- working with business unit leaders to lead the development and distribution of reliable, accurate and timely insights and analytics and reporting to support finance strategy delivery, along with strategic and operational decision making
- creating and evolving a contemporary, effective and highly regarded, business partnering function which provides collective expertise, support and service delivery across Council
- designing and delivering practical implementation plans, performance indicators and metrics to enable successful delivery of key finance strategies, goals and objectives.
We are seeking an accomplished leader with substantial knowledge and experience in shaping a modern finance function delivering services across a diverse organisation.
This role is a senior leader within Council and as such requires someone with significant leadership experience and expertise, a high level of integrity, an ability to navigate, influence, communicate and adapt seamlessly in a dynamic, complex and changing environment.
Previous success in large scale change management, system transformation and modernisation will be paramount as will a strong track record in designing and implementing complex financial strategies, policies and processes to support Council performance.
